The MGM "all-Black" musical "Cabin In The Sky" (1943) has acting and musical appearances by many of the top Black performers of the time. If you can get past the obvious stereotypes involved, it's a fascinating time capsule of an era.
"Muriel's Wedding" is for sure one of the gems. They did an amazing job there, starting with Toni Collette herself, of course.
Not sure how much "hidden" but I love another, very different, movie with Toni Collette, and others, "The Dead Girl". It's chilling, very well told, from different perspectives, and stays forever.
then there's, again, not sure how "hidden", but "Gone baby, gone"
Another genre, a dark comedy one- I really loved "Head above Water".
I might be back with other titles, as I remember them-thank you for the good question
1. Sparrows Dance
2. Jane Wants a Boyfriend
Who’s in Jane wants a girlfriend
Louisa Krause plays the protagonist and delivers a great performance. Eliza Dushku is also excellent in her role.
"32 Short Films About Glenn Gould." A biopic told in a very innovative fashion.

Haven’t heard of that one
I can think of 2… & they’re both movies that were made in Australia & were extremely successful:
1) - Romper Stomper: One of Russell Crowe’s earliest & finest performances (the graphic violence may be a bit much for some though 🫢)
2) - Red Dog: It’s actually a true (but ultimately sad) story set in a mining region in Western Australia.
Thanks for the recommendations
