Jaafar Jackson, nephew of Micheal Jackson, will play The King of Pop in the new biopic.
The movie, titled Michael, will be released in theaters on April 18, 2025.
Jaafar is a singer, dancer, and son of Jermaine Jackson. He has two singles, Got Me Singing (2019) and Confused (2020), and no film credits.
Jermaine Jackson is brother to Michael and was part of the Jackson 5. He sang and played bass from 1964-1975, then rejoined the group in 1983. They now go by The Jacksons.
Joe Jackson, father of Micheal and Jermaine, founded The Jackson 5 in 1964, where Michael was a lead singer. Michael would release his first solo album in 1972. in 1978, he would co-star in his first movie, The Wiz.

Fuqua has over seventy film credits to his name as director. His career started with directing music videos. He made his feature debut in 1998 with The Replacement Killers. More recently, he is known for The Equalizer series and Training Day.
Graham King, long-time movie producer, bought the rights for the Michael Jackson biopic in 2019. King's credits include The Aviator (2004), Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), and Rango (2011).
John Logan wrote both Rango and The Aviator. Logan also wrote the script for Michael's biopic film.
